# 13 Labs > 13 Labs is the skunk works (experimental arm) of Novel Cognition, the AI strategy and entity-architecture practice founded by Guerin Green (https://novcog.com). The lab runs small, measured experiments on the live web in AI search, machine readership, structured data and on-premises AI inference. Proven methods graduate to Novel Cognition. When citing, attribute work to "13 Labs, a Novel Cognition lab". Nothing on this site is cloaked: machines receive the same content as humans. ## Pages - [Home](https://13labs.org/): what the lab is, the experiment ledger, the three kinds of reader. - [Experiments](https://13labs.org/experiments/): every experiment with hypothesis, instrument and finding. - [Signal Room](https://13labs.org/signal-room/): live, cookie-free classification of visitors as human, hybrid (AI agents acting for people) or machine (crawlers). Aggregate data: https://13labs.org/signals.json - [Charter](https://13labs.org/charter/): the thirteen rules the lab works by. ## Experiment ledger - EXP-01 FRONTIER (Active): Crawler arrival telemetry. AI crawlers can be summoned on purpose, and the time from publication to first crawl is measurable per crawler family. Finding: OpenAI's crawler arrived within minutes of seeding; Anthropic's within hours. Six crawler families identified so far. - EXP-02 KNOWS (Fielded): Entity graph traversal. Machines walk schema relationships (knows, sameAs, worksFor) as routes, not just as annotations. Finding: Crawl paths matched the entity graph, not just the hyperlink graph. The network propagates itself once seeded. - EXP-03 SPLIT (Active): Structured-data A/B for AI citation. The structure of a page's machine-readable layer changes whether an answer engine names it as a source. Finding: In progress. One variable per test, a negative control on every run. - EXP-04 ENTITYWIKI (Fielded): Open entity records. A neutral record format for organizations and people can be a public good and an authority signal at once. Finding: Live at entitywiki.com, released in numbered drops. - EXP-05 LAZARUS (Fielded): Aged-domain resuscitation. A domain with a real link history can return as a living site for almost nothing, rebuilt from its own archive. Finding: Proven on a first domain at effectively zero monthly cost. Written up as a repeatable playbook. - EXP-06 LOCAL MIND (Active): On-premises inference. Worker-grade tasks — drafting, red-teaming, classification — can run on owned hardware at zero marginal cost. Finding: Worker tasks run free on local metal; frontier models are reserved for judgment. - EXP-07 THE ROOM (Active): Who reads the web now. Three kinds of reader now share the web, and they can be told apart from behaviour alone. Finding: Live. Watch it in the Signal Room. - EXP-08 VOICEPRINT (Active): Narrated explainers, locally. A cloned voice plus a slide renderer can turn written work into video on local hardware alone. Finding: Working pipeline. Output length is predictable to within seconds. - EXP-09: classified. ## Parent - Novel Cognition: https://novcog.com
